Markus Yagapen is a media entrepreneur based in Munich (Germany), specializing in the production and marketing of music, movies and online-projects. In addition, he manages the finances of selected major international film productions.
As a 13-year-old boy Markus bought a Super 8 camera and began producing fiction films and cartoons. After graduating from high school, he first became a banker (IHK), then he graduated in „production and media business“ from the University of Television and Film in Munich. After business experience in film distribution („Buena Vista“), TV license trading (assistant to the CEO of „FJE“) and TV production („WDR“) he specialized in film accounting and film finance management.
Markus Yagapen has extensive experience and knowledge in the media industry, film production being second nature to him, so to speak. For many years he was the film finance manager, controller and head of finance and accounting in well-known companies such as „Dreamtool Entertainment“ and „Film-Line Productions“. As a film accountant he managed the finances of several major international productions such as Peter Maffay’s „Tabaluga“ (Tempest Film). He was appointed by the LfA Förderbank Bayern as a specialist in the film funding team to review calculations and financing plans and to oversee the proper application of funds provided by the FilmFernsehFonds Bayern (FFF) and the German Federal Film Fund (DFFF).
In addition, Markus supports production companies as a consultant and coach and regularly gives lectures and seminars at numerous film schools as well as in the qualification program of the „Produzentenallianz“ (producer alliance). He is the author of “Filmgeschäftsführung” (film accounting) and co-author of the book “Von der Idee zum Film” (from the idea to the film), both published by Herbert von Halem Verlag.
